Hyundai Motor Co. staged the world-premiere of its all-new Verna at the 2010 Beijing Automotive Exhibition today. With its eye-catching sloping roofline, the new sub-compact, Hyundai’s third China-exclusive model, projects a coupe-like dynamic image that is at once sporty, stately and futuristic.

Developed over a five-year period expressively for the Chinese market, product planners conducted exhaustive market research of Chinese consumer tastes and trends to ensure every detail meets local requirements. Built on an all-new platform at the company’s highly automated plant in Beijing, Verna is targeted at China’s strategically important C1 segment and fully reflects Hyundai’s philosophy of quality. Lancia’s association with the sea dates back many years and involves sailing as well as powered boating. From the Flaminia class speed boats of the 1960s to the Monaco Classic Week 2009.

Now, Lancia’s first powerboat is making its debut in Venice, a city where roads and cars are replaced by canals and boats – or launches (lance) as the Venetians prefer to call them.

The stage chosen for the event is the Venice International Film Festival, of which Lancia is main sponsor. While Lancia cars accompany celebrities to and from Palazzo del Cinema, the Lancia Powerboat will be carrying others to and from the moorings of the Hotel Excelsior.

The new boat has been developed jointly by four Italian companies, each leader in its own sector: Sacs, who produce luxury RIBs; FPT, a company in the Fiat Group and manufacturer of the “best in class” engines and Martini, regular partner of Lancia in the field of racing. Coleen Rooney was at the John Smiths Grand National Meeting at Aintree over the weekend to present the winner of the festival’s Style 2009 competition with the keys to a Citroën C-Crosser 2.2HDi Exclusive.
