SEAT is beginning the second half of the year with the same punch as it ended the first half, keeping up with the launch of new products that are making the Spanish brand’s range the freshest and youngest on the market.

This year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, being held from 17-27 September, is the backdrop for the unveiling of SEAT’s new León CUPRA R, the sportiest, most powerful model in the company’s history thanks to its awesome 265 hp 2.0 TSI engine and a long list of exclusive interior and exterior detailing that redefine its stunning new looks and personality.

The newest additions made to the Ibiza range include cars bearing initials that have made a big name for themselves in the history of the Spanish brand, such as FR and CUPRA, and now the Bocanegra is the most recent arrival, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Ibiza’s market launch.

The new FR, CUPRA and Bocanegra are at the apex of the SEAT Ibiza range. Their relevance to the Spanish brand stems from their exterior and interior styling, powerful engine line-up and equipment level, which also puts them in an enviable position in their segment.

Without a doubt, these are three vehicles that have been created to thrill and satisfy, to provide the sportiest driving experience with a unique style and personality – an accurate reflection of the brand values that underline the innovative design, sporty nature and liveliness found on all of its models.

Another novelty found on the Ibiza range is the 90 hp 1.6 TDI CR engine with common rail technology, which is replacing the 90 hp 1.9 TDI unit. This signals the gradual start of including the common rail system to the Ibiza range, which gives the engine better performance and significantly reduces all levels of noise, consumption and emissions.

The forthcoming Ibiza ST, illustrated here with a concept design sketch, is destined for UK showrooms next year and becomes the third distinct body style in the Ibiza model family – joining established big sellers the practical Ibiza 5dr and sporty Ibiza ST.

Hot on the heels of its exciting new solar sunroof technology, debuting in the SEAT Exeo saloon which goes on sale here officially tomorrow (2 April), the inventive Spanish brand is today unveiling another exciting innovation.

While the Exeo’s optional sunroof uses small solar panels to generate electricity and power the car’s ventilation system on hot days – drawing ambient air into an otherwise hot cabin when the vehicle is parked with the engine off – the new device adapts wind turbine technology to power the Ecomotive’s headlights.

The family size version of the new Exeo, called Exeo ST, will go on sale before next summer with an engine range and equipment list that is identical to the for-door model. The only differences will be a longer body, at 4.666 metres in length, and a boot capacity of 442 litres.

Taking place from 5 to 15 March, 2009, the Geneva Motor Show is the backdrop chosen by SEAT to showcase the new 2009 León and Altea models for the first time. With these models, the Spanish brand’s intermediate range has undergone a considerable evolution, with their identity traits visible on the front and rear of all the body styles, and a completely updated engine range including common rail Diesel variants.
